In 2022, the preschool board of West Nashville Church's Weekday Ministry set out to make intentional positive changes. While remaining rooted in our mission, purpose, and values, we focused on the present and future needs of our community. We are excited to share several elements that make our preschool unique.
Staffing
When our former director moved out of state, we prayed that we would find the perfect replacement. God always provides!
Rachel Davis, an early childhood educator with 20+ years of experience and 5 years at West Nashville Preschool, was chosen to serve as the Program Director. We then were fortunate to find an Assistant Director in Katie Beasley, a former Montessori teacher with 15+ years of experience. To round out our team, we hired several new educators to meet the needs of our enrollment. Learn More About Our Team!
The selection of a new leadership team set the tone for the journey forward. With the best interests of our students, families, and educators in mind, we made several additional improvements to our program.
Ongoing Education
Our mission statement is "to engage an ever-changing community with the never-failing love of Christ." To accomplish this, we must put an emphasis on continuing education for our staff. In 2022, we added a diversity, equity, inclusion & belonging (DEI&B) component to our staff training curriculum. In 2023, we also implemented monthly professional development in-service hours for our educators. Learn More About Our Staff Training & Development!
Program
Adaptability is a theme that grew out of necessity during the pandemic, and it is one we have continued to embrace wholeheartedly. We noticed an increase in requests for new parents needing childcare, while several of our older preschoolers moved on to kindergarten. The restructuring of our classroom assignments helped us create an additional infant/toddler classroom to welcome in more of God's precious children. Learn More About Our Program!
Facilities
We upgraded our playground with new equipment, sun shades, artificial turf, and mulch. Our gym got a makeover with new flooring and paint. We also refreshed our staff breakroom to provide our fabulous team with an area to recharge during the work day. Learn More About Our Facilities!
Technology
We are proud of the changes and improvements we've made over the past year, and we wanted a way to showcase our amazing staff, program, facilities, and children. Our new website and Instagram account will give us more platforms to share updates and accomplishments with our families and the community. Follow us on Instagram!
Name
All of this positive momentum also put us in the mood for a refresh of our name. While nothing is changing legally, we are proud to introduce the "New" West Nashville Preschool!
With our faith in God, we know these moves have put us in the position to have a successful 2023 and beyond!
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD. "Plans to prosper you and not to harm you; plans to give you hope and a future."
