Child Reading in the Grass

About Us

At West Nashville Preschool, we wholeheartedly believe that every student should feel safe and loved. We believe that sparking emotional intelligence and intellectual curiosity create a society both kind and effective. We believe in moving forward Christ’s love and planting seeds we may never see this side of Heaven.

Children are born eager to learn... We help them explore and make connections!

Mission, Purpose & Values

Mission

Our Mission is to engage our ever-changing community with the never-failing love of Christ.

Purpose

The purpose of this ministry is to offer your child a Christian early education environment through which they can grow in all developmental domains.

Starting with children as young as six weeks, we believe it is important for every child to feel safe and loved in order to have the greatest opportunity for positive outcomes throughout early childhood.

We are committed to providing a high quality, stimulating, and loving learning environment for all children at West Nashville Preschool.

It is our greatest priority to share the love of Jesus with all children and their families, which we do out of the abundance of grace we have been given.

Values

Purposeful Play - We believe that children learn best through meaningful play experiences.

Safety - We believe that children thrive in a safe and loving environment.

Excellence - “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Colossians 3:17 (NIV) No task is too small to do well.

Relationships - We believe that building and sustaining secure, trustworthy relationships fuels our mission.

Love - “And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.” Colossians 3:14 (NIV) Above all else, we believe in living our mission out in loving relationships with children, parents, and team members.

Our Facilities
Classrooms

Classrooms are strategically designed to spark interest and curiosity allowing children to engage in their own unique play experiences with peers and the environment.

Playground

The playground is where children are free to run, roam, swing, climb, build, dig in the sand and pebbles, explore nature and practice cooperative play.

Library

The library is full of wonderful literacy materials; books for all ages and on all topics, puppets, soft cozy seating for story times and a small quiet place to experience a print-rich environment.

Scripture Murals

Our hallways tell many stories from the Bible using colorful scenery that captures the minds of children. We use these depictions to incorporate Christian teachings throughout our days, often stopping on our way to and from class to discuss the lessons behind each mural.

Gymnasium

The gym provides a safe space to run off some energy, engage with gross motor materials and just have fun playing together! The gym is an extension of both the classroom and the playground.

Chapel

As a ministry of West Nashville Church, we are fortunate to have access to the sanctuary for chapel, Christmas performances, preschool graduation, and other large group activities!

Theater

Occasionally, movie days are planned for special occasions, and this is a fun room made to feel like an actual theater with stadium seating and a large screen. What a treat!

Courtyard

Our courtyard provides the perfect place to do science experiments and host outdoor events!

Testimonials

We are blessed to care for many families' children from infancy through their toddler years, and it is a bittersweet blessing that we also get to help prepare them to start kindergarten.

Other families join us later in the program and find the perfect childcare/educational experience full of love and personal growth that they had been seeking.

But don't just take our word for it... Hear from some of our families about their experience at West Nashville Preschool!

"They have done a wonderful job taking care of our babies.  All of the teachers care deeply for the kiddos and they are loved every day.  We are so fortunate WNCP was part of our lives.  One child just graduated, and she started when she was 3 months."

Crist Family

"Today marks the end of a 6+ year chapter! We are so grateful to all the people who took such wonderful care of our kids the last 6 years. We will miss you! You worked so hard to not only wipe away tears at drop off or heal a scrape from the playground; but G and C learned so much about faith, friendship, and fun from you guys! And hats off to everyone who played a part in potty-training. You may see us again in 25 years or so… Claire said this morning (very matter-of-factly) 'Today is not my last day at WNCP bc my babies will go there too some day.'" ❤️

Gooch Family

"Today is Emma Lyell’s last day at WNCP Weekday Children’s Ministry. She has grown so much from when she started…from a baby to a little girl. I want to thank the teachers, parents and friends we have made along the way."

Lyell Family

"During COVID, our previous preschool shut down, and we decided to make a change after three years. The only regret I have is that we didn't move her sooner. At West Nashville, she blossomed. Her behavior improved along with her social skills and pre-K skills. The staff was communicative and professional, even offering care during spring break, which our previous school didn't offer. They also offer flexible before- and after-care for those families like ours that have two working parents. The positive impression WNCC had on her will last a lifetime, and I could not be more grateful for it. Can't recommend this place enough."

Rachel

"Our family has loved West Nashville Children’s Weekday Ministry! Every staff person I interacted with during our 3 years there was kind, loving, helpful and wonderful with my children! The environment is very child-centered, engaging, full of learning opportunities and fun! They go above and beyond to really know your child and provide the best care for them! I cannot say enough good things about this program, if there is an open spot for your child, TAKE IT!"

Libonn Family

"Just wanted to tell you all how much we appreciate WNCP. We are really going to miss you... WNCP has such a great staff and we truly are thankful... Thanks again for all that you do!"

History

West Nashville Preschool is just one of the ministries of West Nashville Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The current location of WNCP opened in 1977.

The preschool, which has been in operation for more than 40 years, began as a Mother's Day Out daycare program in Nashville. As our community's needs grew, we adapted our program to include full weekday childcare for infants through pre-K.

West Nashville Church's ministries for children also includes Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Trunk or Treat, and more!
